If you enter the phrase "Internet Marketing" into Google, what happens? You are bombarded with over 130,000,000 results. For a beginner, that is a little too much information to handle all at once. Besides, most of those sites "assume" you already know the wide section of Internet Marketing vocabulary. Let's take a few backward steps and get started in the right direction. I will cover 5 basic methods to boost your income online. You do not need any previous experience online to make a profit. Without further delay, let's get started.
Affiliating
It is estimated that over two billion (2,000,000,000) dollars will be paid out to affiliates in 2010. What is affiliating? Affiliates are people who sell products online for other people known as vendors. The vendors invent a new product, and post it on the web. You then find and sell that product for them, and you both share the profit.
To get started as an affiliate:
Go to ClickBank.com, and sign up for a free account. ClickBank is a huge marketplace of products that vendors have posted for affiliates to sell. I highly recommend it, because all the products are digital (that means no shipping, just simple downloads).
Go to ClickBank's marketplace and find a product dealing with a topic you know a lot about.
Take a good look at the pitch page and make sure it is professional. Ask yourself if it is something you would buy.
If the pitch page and product are legit, create a "hoplink" for the product. A hoplink is a special affiliate link that sends a visitor to the pitch page. If the visitor buys the product from your hoplink, you have made a sale.
Make a website or blog. There are multiple options for promoting your hoplink, but I recommend constructing a website. However, you may want to try other things like emailing the link to your contacts, or posting it on your Facebook page. Anyways, back to the website idea. Create a free website with yola.com, or webs.com. For blogs, use blogger.com. If you want a real domain for your website, use godaddy.com, you will have to pay a small price of about $20 a year.
Fill the website with content and information. This will captivate the visitors of your site and hold them their. If your entire website is a giant sales pitch, do not expect to succeed. Give them their wanted solutions before trying to sell them a product.
Monetize. Now is the time to convert those readers into buyers. Once you are sure your website has all the proper content, make a recommendation to your product and give them your hoplink at the end of content sections.
Drive traffic to your website. This step is the hardest of all. With billions of website floating around in cyberspace, the chances are small the Google is going to find your website. I recommend that you use a process known as "Article Marketing." There are hundreds of article directories out their that are absolutely free, Ezine Articles is the most popular. Submit quality articles to these directories with a link back to your site in the resource box.
Keep driving traffic, and make sales! Earning up to 75% of commissions for each purchase.
Google AdSense
Google AdSense is a free advertising program that places HTML ads on your site or blog. If someone clicks on these ads, you get paid through Google by the sponsors. I recommend using Google AdSense and affiliating for income (affiliating will most likely be your biggest source of profit). Follow these steps to get stared with AdSense:
Go to Google.com/AdSense and sign up for a free account.
Make simple text and image ads and copy the HTML coding to a notepad. Note: Some people will get confused with "channels" when making their ads. This simply deals with tracking your ads, you can skip this step.
Make a website or blog. This is where blogger.com can be very handy when making a blog. AdSense and blogger are both owned by Google, so Google added a simple "monetize" button that easily puts ads between posts and into sidebars. If you have a website, copy the HTML ads over from your notepad.
Assuming you have already created a website to affiliate one, you are now done. If you have not made your website yet, just add content and drive traffic to it, this will finish the AdSense process.
Online Auctions
Are you interested in the general "buy low, sell high" concept? Online auctioners sell bulky amounts of merchandise online. You may also be interested in creating products (like necklaces, bracelets, gloves, etc.) and selling them online.
There are ample online auction sites, but I only recommend one, eBay. I am sure you have heard of eBay, but just in case you haven't it is the worlds biggest online auction center. With that in mind, let's get started as an online auctioner:
Go to eBay.com and make a free account. If you do not have a paypal, go to paypal.com and sign up for that too.
Find a source for your merchandise. You need to have it before you can sell it. Likewise, you could buy off another eBayer, buy cheap stuff from garage sales or local warehouses, or buy materials and create it yourself. Note: Buying broken stuff is extremely cheap, if not free. If you are good at fixing things, take advantage of it and "buy broken for low, sell fixed for high."
Sell. Once you have the merchandise, sell it. Make sure your description describes your product exactly so you do not get negative feedback from buyers. Feedback is a huge deal on eBay, because almost everyone who buys from you will check your feedback before making a purchase. Moreover, higher feedback=more sales.
Simple Jobs
I do not recommend taking up a simple job online. Acquiring a simple job is similar to working for a fast food restaurant offline. The work hours are high, and the pay is low. Plus, there isn't much room for improvement or promotion with simple online jobs. However, if you really want an simple, online job, and think you have no other options, just do the following:
First, pick from a list of online jobs:
Taking online surveys
Reading emails
Clicking on ads.
Creating ads
Typing articles.
Yes they all seem easy, but the pay is low. You can Google each phrase to find more information.
Service Selling
Got any particular skills that could be put to use? Sell them! Well, don't sell your skills, but sell the service you can provide with your talent. The internet is your number one tool for promoting your business and spreading your reputation. Let's get started:
Setup an email. You are going to want multiple ways for your clients to contact you.
Make a website. Blogging really isn't an option for service sellers. Your website for selling a service is going to be vaguely different opposed to affiliating. With affiliating, you need to please your visitors with quality information. With service selling, you just need to convince your visitors to buy your service. Make sure to include descriptions, pictures, multiple ways to contact you, and costing. It is very important that your customer knows exactly what he/she is getting before they have to make the call or email you.
Drive traffic. You will want to concentrate more on offline advertising then on the Net, because you will most likely only be offering your service locally. Concentrate on driving in targeted, in-your-area traffic. Post advertisements to your website on telephone poles, billboards, even on your car! Tell your friends and other acquaintances. As far as online goes, post a local advertisement at craigslist.com.
Enjoy your business!
